Personal Background

Lenora

Our Mom Our Hero

Our mom was the "best mom ever"...There wasn't a soul around that didn't like her.  She touched everyone's heart in one way or another, because she would do anything for you, and never complain about it...

She was our "drill sergeant" at the annual Lamb Feed every year.  She knew how to get things done..and she did it her way or the highway...

She was the center of our family.  She was a loving Wife,Mother, Nana and Vava to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart.  She was our babysitter whenever we needed her.  She always made sure she was available, no matter what.  We knew we were in good hands with her, because the kids knew not to get Nana mad, or else.  Whenever they misbehaved at home, we would threaten them and tell them we were calling Nana up, and that was an instant fix... "Please don't call Nana, we'll behave".  Half the time, mom never even knew we did this..this was our little secret among us girls.

She was not only our mother, but our "best friend".  I remember when my sister Karen and myself (Brenda) when we were teenagers and mom took us on our first cruise down Mooney Blvd.  She was a kid herself sometimes..always young at heart.  We always had swimming parties with our friends and family during the summer out at our ranch when we were growing up.  Mom always had a "good ear" whom ever needed someone to listen to.  She never judged you, she just listened.

Our mom went through "tough teenage years" with us girls because there were always three at a time in high school together for many years.

She was a wonderful and loving wife to our dad...She did everything she could for him and she loved him with all her heart.  They had 54 years together and many cherished memories.  That mold has been broken now...she was a hard act to follow.

Her favorite song was Elvira, by the Oak Ridge Boys.  It was number K-5 on her jukebox in the patio out in the backyard.  We always knew not to jam that button or else.

One of our favorite times of the year was our trip to Pismo Beach Festa trip each year.  We always went as a family together.  Mom, Dad and Gary stayed with Chuck, Karen and her kids,  My other sister Cathy and her family stayed next door to them,  Myself and Dean stayed at the RV Park with our family.  Mom enjoyed sitting and relaxing and hearing the ocean and watching her movies.  Mom and Dad even had a favorite spot to sit at on Sunday Morning to watch the Festa Parade.  Dean & I always had their chairs setup waiting for them to arrive at the corner.

Karen my sister misses her Friday lunches with mom and her best friend Elvira.  It was something they have done for 35 years.  Every Friday Mom & Elvira went to Karen's Beauty Shop and got their hair done, Karen's Fridays will never be the same again.

Our lives are changed forever, but we will get through all of this as the strong person she was and made us all be.  That is one gift she gave all of us.

Mom, we miss you and love you so very much...God Bless You and we will see you again one day!  xxxx oooo

Dear MaMa Souza - I was at the Bank on Monday, and there were some young portugees boys talking about the Lamb Feed and "how much fun they had there this year". I instantly thought of my wonderful friend Lenora "MaMa Souza". Tears ran down my face thinking, I will never be able to spend those special times with her again. I truly Love your mother, and will always cherish all the wonderful memories Her and I shared. And for those heartfelt talks we used to have about each others lives. That great laugh and smile that only Lenora could share with me. Lenora would be so proud of her wonderful daughters, and would tell them to simply smile through these hard times. Those of us who truly Love Lenora, would never do anything but honor her and her memory. She will always be my "MaMa Souza" and I will always have Love in my heart for her. Hang in there Girls!! She will always be here for you, in your heart and memories. Love, Ben - from Benjamin Pacheco

Thank You Mom - When you're little, it's easy to assume that everyone's life is just like yours. And it not until you're grown and out in the world that you realize how truly special your own family really is. You have been the heart of the family, always ready with encouragement, support, and understanding. It's obvious now that the feelings of closeness and home didn't just happen... but were because of having a mother like you. I love you mom! - from Daughter Brenda

Grandaughter Kristy - Never will i ever forget the time that me and Nicole went to go get Nana's hair done at Auntie Karen's shop. The ritchual was to go out to eat right after at "Ryan's" which was Nana and Elvira's favorite place to go! So we did and i ordered a big juicy burger and Nana got her soup and salad that she always had. When our waitress delivered our plates i asked for the ketchup...
